Celtic striker Leigh Griffiths expects his side to bounce back from recent disappointments when they take on Ajax in the Europa League on Thursday.

The Bhoys have endured a difficult start to the campaign with Saturday’s defeat to Aberdeen coming just weeks after they exited the Champions League following their play-off round loss to Malmo.

The Hoops also saw defender Virgil van Dijk leave Celtic Park following the defeat to the Swedish champions with morale amongst the club’s supporters reportedly at a low ebb.

Scotland international Griffiths insists his side must now move on from their recent set-backs, starting with their trip to Amsterdam on Thursday in the first match of their Europa League campaign.

He said: “There is no point in us dwelling on Saturday’s result. That won’t do us any good. We have got to go again on Thursday and in the Premiership as well. There are a lot of games coming thick and fast as we need to start winning them.”

The 25-year-old believes the result is the most important thing about the trip to the Dutch capital although he acknowledges it will not be easy against the four-time champions of Europe.

He continued: “There is no point in us dwelling on Saturday’s result.

That won’t do us any good. We have got to go again on Thursday and in the Premiership as well. There are a lot of games coming thick and fast as we need to start winning them.”

Ronny Deila’s side are outsiders to secure all three points in Holland at 4.33 with the hosts available at 1.85 and the draw a 3.50 shout.
