Celtic manager Ronny Deila is keen for his side to secure a confidence-boosting victory when they take on Fenerbahce in the Europa League on Thursday.
The Hoops head into the match bottom of Group A and so even a victory in Turkey will not be enough to see them progress to the knockout stages.
Deila is instead looking to secure the three points in order to build confidence for the rest of the domestic season, with the Celts currently four points clear of Aberdeen at the top of the Scottish Premiership standings.
He said: “It’s always important to win and if we can get a victory, it’ll be a big achievement. It will give us a lot of confidence to go into the domestic league as well.”
The Bhoys are yet to win in this season’s Europa League and they have conceded two goals or more in each of their last seven matches on the continent, so Deila knows his side must improve that defensive record if they are to sign off with a win in Turkey.
He added: “It is important that when you are away in Europe, you defend well first of all and when we get the ball we have to make some problems for them. We want to be very clear in how we defend and how we attack.”
Celtic are outsiders to secure victory in Istanbul at 7.50, whilst Vítor Pereira’s side are on offer at 1.40 and the draw is a 4.75 shout.
