Eden Hazard is targeting Champions League glory with Chelsea next season and admits he would love Christian Benteke by his side.

The Blues wrapped up the Premier League title with ease while they were also victorious in the Capital One Cup, but they slipped out of Europe’s elite club competition to Paris Saint-Germain at the last-16 stage.

It was an ill-disciplined and ugly display by Jose Mourinho’s men at Stamford Bridge that saw them eliminated on the away-goals rule and they will be forced to watch Juventus battle it out with Barcelona for Europe’s top prize on Saturday evening.

Chelsea have already been installed as 2.38 favourites to win the Premier League title again next term but it is European glory that Mourinho and his men crave.

“It’s always good to see the final, but it’s better if you play in it,” Hazard told Sky Sports. “This season it was not for Chelsea, but I hope next season we will be in the final.”

Benteke’s future has been the subject of many column inches over the past few weeks with Aston Villa desperate to keep hold of their star striker.

But it was revealed that he has a release clause in his contract and it may be that one of the top clubs comes calling over the summer months.

Hazard is clearly a big fan of his compatriot and hopes that the powers-that-be can lure the Belgium international to west London.

“If Christian signs with us, I would be the happiest man in the world,” he added. “I have a great relationship with him and would like nothing better than to play with him.”
