David Luiz has vowed to bring more success to Chelsea after re-signing for the Londoners from Paris St-Germain.

The Brazil central defender completed a £30m deadline day move to Chelsea, two years after he was sold by the club.

Luiz moved to the Parc des Princes from Chelsea for £50 million in the summer of 2014 and won back-to-back Ligue 1 titles.

He had started all four of the French champions’ competitive fixtures this season and, while the Parisian club originally rejected overtures from Chelsea, Luiz made a personal plea that he be allowed move back to England to work with Antonio Conte.

After Chelsea’s first bid was turned down, Luiz spoke to PSG’s president Nasser Al-Khelaifi and their sporting director Leonardo in an attempt to convince them to let him go. The 29-year-old is delighted to be picking up his own Chelsea story once more.

“I’m delighted to return to Chelsea,” he told the club’s official website. “We had a fantastic story during my first time at the club and I want to help the team and Antonio Conte achieve a lot of success.

“I always had a wonderful relationship with the fans and I am looking forward to wearing the blue shirt at Stamford Bridge once again.”

Chelsea first purchased Luiz in January 2011 from Benfica for £21m. He was part of the Blues team that won the Champions League and FA Cup in 2012 and made 143 appearances for Chelsea in all competitions, scoring 12 goals.

Chelsea are 1.40 to finish in the Premier League top four this season, while they are 5.50 to win the title.
