Owen Coyle believes his Blackburn Rovers side are close to earning a first Championship win of the season if they can get the rub of the green.

Rovers went down to a late defeat against Leeds at Elland Road on Tuesday night but Coyle is hoping they can get three points against another Yorkshire outfit in the shape of Rotherham on Saturday.

Blackburn are the only one of 24 Championship teams without a win this season, leaving them rooted to the bottom of the table.

Rotherham have just one victory from seven games themselves and Coyle feels his team will get a victory sooner rather than later.

Marvin Emnes had cancelled out Chris Wood’s opener for the home side before Kyle Bartley took advantage of poor marking to head home Leeds’ midweek winner.

“We paid a heavy price for [a] lapse in concentration as we were dominating the game and looked the more likely to go on and win the match,” said the Rovers boss.

“We showed enough to know that we can go out and win games, sometimes you don’t quite get the run of the ball and luck isn’t on your side.”

Rotherham will arrive at Ewood Park on the back of successive 2-2 draws against Bristol City and Nottingham Forest, and Coyle want his players to quickly get over the late heartache against Leeds.

“It’s important that we pick ourselves up quickly and prepare for the match against Rotherham on Saturday, there are no easy wins in the Championship and we need to prepare ourselves to be focussed and to try and win the game,” he added.

“We need to defend set plays better and that can be achieved by staying focussed. If we do that, it gives us a platform to go and win games.”

Blackburn are 2.05 to defeat Rotherham on Saturday. The Millers are 3.50 while the draw is also 3.50.
