Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas is targeting Champions League glory next season after his side secured the Premier League title on Sunday.

Jose Mourinho’s men landed their fifth league title and third under the stewardship of the Portuguese maestro by defeating Crystal Palace 1-0 at Stamford Bridge.

Eden Hazard’s first-half goal was enough to hand the Blues their first title since 2010 and Spanish midfielder Fabregas was quick to revel in securing his maiden league success on English soil.

He said: “The Premier League has always been a trophy that I wanted to get in my career. Hopefully it will be the first of many.”

The 27-year-old is now targeting more success with the west London club, as he looks to add to his impressive collection of honours at both club and international level.

The former Arsenal player is particularly hoping to mount a challenge for Champions League glory in the next campaign, with Chelsea having been eliminated in the last 16 of this year’s competition at the hands of Paris Saint-Germain.

He continued: “I hope the future holds many trophies, many Premier Leagues, Champions Leagues and hopefully we can start building a fantastic team that next year can fight for the Premier League and Champions League.”

Before the Blues can fully turn their attention to next season they must first conclude their final three games of the current campaign.

Mourinho’s men face Liverpool at Stamford Bridge on Sunday and the new champions are 2.10 to win their first game as league title holders, with the Merseysiders on offer at 3.60 and the draw available at 3.30.
