Fulham boss Claudio Ranieri insists his side can pull clear of danger following a potentially damaging loss at Burnley on Saturday.

The Cottagers took the lead at Turf Moor thanks to Andre Schurrle’s early stunner but two own goals from Joe Bryan and Denis Odoi ensured Burnley claimed a 2-1 win.

The Clarets failed to register a single shot on target and Ranieri feels Fulham were unlucky to come away with nothing.

“It’s unbelievable. Football is fantastic,” the Italian told Sky Sports.

“I think we deserved more than the draw but as for the football we scored early and played well.

“They had three chances and scored two own goals. It’s unbelievable. We can draw the match in the first half but we hit the crossbar. In the second half they save on the line. It’s a bad moment but we are alive. We never give up. We continue to fight.”

Fulham face a tough home game against Spurs in their next Premier League fixture.

Fulham are 6.50 to win, a draw is 4.33 and Spurs can be backed at 1.53.

Ranieri was happy with his side’s display at Burnley despite the loss and now hopes for a response to the defeat.

He added: “I am satisfied from the performance. We played well and in the second half the match was in our hands but it wasn’t enough.

“We knew it was a battle but that is football. They won. They are right we are wrong but we will never give up.

“We know we wanted to win but now we are strong and we want to react quickly.”
