New Fulham defender Calum Chambers insists he could not wait to move to the club after agreeing a season-long loan deal from Arsenal.
The 23-year-old has decided to leave the Gunners after falling down the pecking order in recent years. Chambers was not guaranteed first-team football under new coach Unai Emery but he is still contracted to the north London outfit for the next few years.
He will be hoping to form a solid partnership in defence with former England Under-21 team-mate Alfie Mawson and the youngster insists he cannot wait to play in the Premier League for the Cottagers.
“I watched a lot of Fulham last season, I really like the way they play football, there’s a good manager, it’s a great club, so I’m really excited for the season ahead,” he told the club’s official website. “Everyone can see that Fulham’s a club that likes to play football, play football from the back, through the lines.
That’s the style of football I like as well, so I think it fits me and suits the way I play.” Chambers will have just a few days to get to know his new team-mates before their opening game of the season against Crystal Palace.
Due to their home advantage, Fulham are 2.38 favourites for the game. The draw is 3.30, while Palace are outsiders at odds of 3.00. Both teams will be looking to play an attacking brand of football and both teams to score and a Fulham win has been boosted to 5.00.
