Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers is delighted to have added defender Kolo Toure to his squad and believes his experience will be invaluable.

The Scottish champions added the Ivorian to their ranks on Sunday as he put pen-to-paper on a one-year contract.

Toure’s move to Celtic, who are priced at 1.25 to win the league, sees him reunited with Rodgers for the second time in his career, having been previously signed by the Northern Irishman at Liverpool in 2013.

Rodgers said: “He’s a wonderful professional . “I brought him into Liverpool to add that bit of experience and help two of the centre-halves there at the time.

“In the big games, he was outstanding for me.” Rodgers has talked up Toure’s experience and believes he can help to pass his knowledge on to some of the younger players in the squad.

Toure boasts 14 years of Premier League experience and has featured over 100 times at international level for Ivory Coast.

The 43-year-old is hopeful that the defender can take some of the weight of responsibility off the shoulders of captain Scott Brown next term.

“With a lot of young players in our squad, he can really help them and he can be of great assistance for [captain] Scott Brown, who is a wonderful leader but he needs support and help around him as well,” he told reporters.

“It will be nice for Scott to have someone behind him, who has that real big-game experience.”

Celtic have added four fresh faces to their set-up this summer and Toure joins Kristoffer Ajer, Moussa Dembele and PJ Crossan in heading to Celtic Park.
