Blackburn boss Owen Coyle admits he is keen to add to his squad ahead of the home clash with Fulham in the Championship on Saturday.
Rovers have endured a tough start to the season, losing their first three league matches before conceding a late equaliser to draw with Burton Albion last weekend.
The Lancashire club have enjoyed more success in the EFL Cup and will take on League Two outfit Crewe Alexandra in the second round at Ewood Park on Tuesday.
Coyle is working hard to bring in some new recruits and hopes to have some signings in place for Saturday’s league match against the Cottagers.
“Numerous conversations with clubs are taking place,” Coyle said.
“We thought we were close to something but a couple of injuries at a certain club curtailed that.
That’s not to say it won’t happen, it just may take a little longer than what we’d hoped.
“It’ll be the same faces for the cup game but we’d certainly like to try and add for the Fulham game at the weekend.”
The 50-year-old is under no illusions that his side, who currently prop up the Championship table, need to improve and insists he is ready to dip into the transfer market.
He added: “It comes down to a number of things but there’s no doubt as a squad we want to improve and if that means we have to wheel and deal a bit here and there, that could be the answer.”
Rovers are available at 1.44 to secure a victory in the League Cup while Crewe are on offer at 6.50 and the draw is priced at 4.50.
