Blackburn boss Owen Coyle admits he would like to sign on-loan forward Marvin Emnes on a permanent basis.

The former Dutch under-21 international made a temporary switch to Ewood Park from Swansea on the final day of the summer transfer window, and he has impressed during his short stay in Lancashire, scoring three goals in six Championship appearances.

The 28-year-old’s loan deal is due to expire on January 15, but Coyle is keen to keep the former Middlesbrough player for a longer period of time, and he is even eyeing a permanent move for the forward during the summer. “Marvin is one I would like to sign,” said Coyle.

“He comes out of contract next year and he’s one I’ve always been a big admirer of for a number of years.”

Emnes is one of six players Rovers currently have on-loan and Coyle admits that he would like to sign some more of his temporary recruits on a permanent basis, as he bids to add sustained quality to his squad.

“There’s a number of them (loan players) I’d love to bring to the club permanently,” he continued. “It’s always difficult as the better they do the harder it is to get them permanently.

“But it won’t be for a lack of trying. We want that quality of player who can grow at the club.”

Blackburn are currently third from bottom in the Championship standings after suffering back-to-back league defeats to Sheffield Wednesday and Birmingham, and they will be keen to return to winning ways when they face Ipswich at home on Saturday.

The Blue and Whites are on offer at 2.50 to win the match, while the Tractor Boys are available at 3.00 and the draw is priced at 3.10.
