Barcelona skipper Andres Iniesta says he does not see himself going into management once he hangs up his boots.

The 32-year-old revealed that while he wishes to remain in football in some capacity, he doesn’t believe he has ‘the streak’ in him that a top manager must possess.

“I don’t look to the future much,” Iniesta said in an interview with Onda Cero radio. “I focus on the present, the short-term and enjoy it.

“In the future I broadly see myself being involved with football, but I don’t see myself as a first-team manager. “I don’t have that streak in me, but I wouldn’t rule it out completely.”

Iniesta’s former teammates Pep Guardiola and Luis Enrique have gone on to great success as managers.

Xavi, the player with whom Iniesta formed a lethal midfield partnership for both Barcelona and Spain, has already signalled he wishes to come back and manage the Catalan club in the future.

The pair won La Liga titles and Champions League trophies at Barca as well as helping Spain to World Cup and European Championship glory.

If Xavi gets his wish, they could link-up once more down the line as part of a coaching team. “Coaching Barca is one of the ideas I have,” Xavi told Cadena Ser in an interview.

“I don’t know if it will all come together, but I like coaching more and more every day.”

Xavi is currently playing football in Qatar for Al Sadd. Barcelona are 1.85 to win La Liga this season while Real Madrid are 2.20.
