Controversial striker Luis Suarez is on course to make his Barcelona debut at Real Madrid next month, the club has confirmed.

The former Liverpool favourite is currently banned again for biting after sinking his teeth into Italy defender Giorgio Chiellini at the World Cup in Brazil.

Suarez, 27, cost Barca around £75million in the summer and they will want their new hitman firing on all cylinders as they look to bounce back from a trophyless campaign in 2013-14.

The Catalans have confirmed the Court of Arbitration for Sport has informed them Suarez’s four-month ban ends the day before the first Clasico of the season.

A club statement read: “Cas has confirmed to FC Barcelona that the Uruguayan’s suspension will end at midnight on Friday 24 October.

“Therefore, clearing him to appear in his first official fixture for his new club, against none other than Real Madrid, should (coach) Luis Enrique opt to play him.”

Suarez will clearly be struggling for full match fitness but it will be a boost for Barcelona to have the striker in their squad as they look to strike a blow in the La Liga title race.

However, the former Ajax star will still miss Barcelona’s first three Champions League group games – against APOEL, Paris Saint-Germain and the Dutch side.

Suarez will come into contention for the European trip to the Amsterdam Arena on November 5.

Barca entertain Athletic Bilbao on Saturday and are 1.32 to win with the visitors 8.80 and the draw is 5.03.
