Barcelona defender Dani Alves admits the club have slipped up too many times this season but believes that they can still claim the title.

The Catalan outfit head into the final two games of the campaign in second place, three points adrift of leaders Atletico Madrid.

Barcelona are priced at 1.83 to claim the title and play relegation-threatened Elche on Sunday before hosting Los Rojiblancos on the final day a week later.

Gerardo Matino’s side know that if they win both games the title will remain at the Nou Camp for a second successive year.

Alves said: “A lot of opportunities have been given to us and we haven’t taken them. I have 100% trust in this team and I guarantee you we will not fail.

“If we don’t win the League then the season is a disaster,”

The Blaugrana made an impressive start to the season and didn’t taste defeat until their 15th outing but since they returned from the winter break they have not been able to perform to the standard expected.

A number of the players, along with Martino, have been heavily criticised by sections of the media and fans who have been disappointed after suffering defeats to Real Valladolid and Granada.

Alves is just one of a number of players at the club who has been linked with a move away in the summer as a mass overhaul is expected to freshen up the options available for the manager, whoever that may be.
