Atletico Madrid midfielder Tiago insists that Sunday’s meeting with Levante is a ‘final’ as they look to tighten their grip on the La Liga title.
Los Roji blancos, who are 1.23 to claim the title, secured their place in the Champions League final for the first time since 1974 on Wednesday night after a 3-1 win over Chelsea.
Diego Simeone’s side will face rivals Real Madrid in the showpiece final in Lisbon later this month, the first time two teams from the same city have gone head-to-head at this stage.
However, Tiago believes it is important for the squad to put the European competition out of their minds as they look to take one more step towards the title.
Tiago said: “It is unbelievable for us to play this final. On Sunday we have another ‘final’ against Levante and maybe we have a possibility to win the league title as well. This season is a dream.”
Atletico sit top of the table with a four-point advantage over Barcelona, while Real are placed in third, six points adrift but with a game in hand.
The league leaders need two more victories from three remaining games to ensure that they will claim the crown, although they will want to get the job done before they face Barcelona on the final day.
