Aston Villa will meet with young midfielder Jack Grealish following allegations of drunken antics while on holiday.
The 19-year-old is allegedly the man seen lying in a Tenerife street in pictures circulating on social media.
The Villa academy product will now have to explain himself to club officials even though he has distanced himself from the claims by tweeting: “I’m on the floor apparently.”
An Aston Villa statement confirmed: “The club is aware of the photographs of Jack Grealish currently circulating.
“We will be meeting with the player but any action will remain an internal matter.”
Grealish enjoyed a breakthrough season last term and clearly benefited from the arrival of Tim Sherwood as manager following the sacking of Paul Lambert back in February.
However, Sherwood was forced to warn Grealish about his behaviour in April and is likely to take a dim view of the player’s latest apparent lapse in the expected standard of behaviour.
Grealish starred in the FA Cup semi-final win over Liverpool on April 19 and had a hand in both of Villa’s goals in the 2-1 win at Wembley.
Villa then went on to lose the final 4-0 to Arsenal at the end of last month although the Midlanders did achieve their biggest target of successfully avoiding relegation, having been sucked into the dogfight at the bottom of the table.
Villa are 5.00 to be relegated at the end of the 2015-16 season, with Leicester and West Brom available at the same price in the current market.
