Ashley Williams admits he is excited about starting the next chapter in his career following his move to Everton.
The Wales captain has joined the Toffees on a three-year contract after eight seasons at Swansea and could make his first start for the club on Saturday against Tottenham.
Everton had been in the market for a new centre back following John Stones’ move to Manchester City and Williams will hope he can add the extra stability his new side lacked so dearly at times last year.
The 31-year-old had previously been linked with a move away from the Swans on a number of occasions but says this time around he could not ignore the opportunity to work under Ronald Koeman, who himself was one of the best defenders of his generation.
Williams admits he is looking forward to the next chapter in his career and is excited about playing in front of the passionate Goodison Park crowd.
He told Everton’s official website: “I’ve had eight great years at Swansea and, for me, the new challenge was something I felt I needed, so I’m delighted to have joined Everton.
“I look forward to seeing what the manager’s plans are for me and the team. He’s been one of the greatest centre-halves to ever play the game, so I look forward to learning from him and seeing what he can teach me.
“I really can’t wait to get out there at Goodison. I’ve always enjoyed playing on the Goodison pitch, so it will be nice to be an Everton player and experience what it’s all about when I’m part of the home team.”
Everton are 2.88 to win on Saturday, while the draw is 3.20 and Spurs priced at 2.40.
