Aaron Ramsey still believes that Arsenal have a chance to win the Premier League title if they can win their remaining eight games of the season.

The Wales international midfielder was back in the Gunners starting XI for Saturday’s game at Newcastle which Arsene Wenger’s side won 2-1 courtesy of a brace from the in-form Olivier Giroud to make it six Premier League victories in succession.

It kept the Gunners in third spot, just a point behind reigning champions Manchester City, who defeated West Brom 3-0, while leaders Chelsea are seven points better off with a game in hand – away to bottom club Leicester – thanks to their 3-2 win at Hull City on Sunday.

It looks a real tall order for Arsenal to overhaul Chelsea’s lead at this stage of the season, but they still have to face Jose Mourinho’s side at the Emirates Stadium on April 26.

Ramsey said: “We just have to focus on ourselves and believe other teams around us will be on the end of upsets. We just have to try and win every game until the end of the season.

“In this division teams can lose against anyone. We have just got to be switched on and make sure it doesn’t happen to us and maintain this run.

“Stranger things have happened.”

The Gunners are 27.00 to win the Premier League this season, while Chelsea are firm favourites at 1.05 to maintain their lead at the top of the table and claim their first title since 2009-10.
