The Cleveland Cavaliers have re-signed guard/forward James Jones, who appeared in all 20 of the team’s playoff games last season.
The 34-year-old, who starred for Indiana Pacers, Phoenix Suns, Portland Trail Blazers and Miami Heat earlier in his career before initially signing for the Cavs 12 months ago, appeared in 57 games during the 2014/15 regular season and averaged 4.4 points in 11.7 minutes per game.
He also shot .360 from the three-point line and .848 from the free throw line.
During Cleveland’s run to the NBA Finals in the 2015 playoffs, where they were eventually beaten by the Golden State Warriors, Jones averaged 4.4 points and 1.5 rebounds in 15.6 minutes per game.
Earlier this month, the Cavaliers acquired the Los Angeles Lakers’ 2019 Second Round Draft Pick, which was held by the Indiana Pacers, in exchange for the rights to forward/center Rakeem Christmas.
Christmas, the 36th pick in the 2015 NBA Draft, appeared in four summer league games for this Cavs this summer, averaging 8.0 points and 4.5 rebounds in 20.9 minutes per game.
He played in 142 games during his four years at Syracuse, averaging 7.4 points on .560 shooting, 5.2 rebounds and 1.7 blocks in 22.0 minutes.
Cleveland could once again be the team to beat in the 2015/16 season. Kevin Love and Kyrie Irving were both injured in the closing stages of last season and missed the defeat to the Warriors in the NBA Finals.
But if they can stay fit and LeBron James can continue to impress, the Cavaliers will once again be one of the strongest teams in the Eastern Conference.
