Manchester City were emphatic on Tuesday night as they thrashed Italian side Atalanta 5-1 in their third UEFA Champions League group stage game of the season despite having a man sent off in the game.

English forward, Raheem Sterling scored a second-half Hattrick in eleven minutes to make it a total of sixteen goals in seventeen appearances for the Citizens and the English national team so far this term.

Sergio Aguero’s first-half brace had overturned Ruslan Malinovsky’s penalty which gave Atalanta the lead against the run of play in the 28th minute before Sterling ran riot in the second half.

Despite the brilliant result, there was an injury worry for City as Midfielder Rodri pulled a hamstring while youngster Phil Foden will not be available for the return leg of the tie in Italy on November 6 after being sent off late in the game for a second bookable offence.

Midfielder Fernandinho was at fault for Atalanta’s opener after fouling Josip Ilicic in the box which was awarded as a penalty by Isreali referee, Oren Ginfeld.

Malinovsky made no mistake from the spot, but Aguero levelled matters six minutes later through Sterling’s cross, and he completed his brace four minutes after from the penalty spot in the 38th minute after Sterling was brought down in the box.

The ever-lively Sterling then ran the show in the second half, scoring from a Foden assist in the 58th minute and then again in the 64th minute before completing his Hattrick just 5 minutes later.

Pep Guardiola’s men have now won all three Champions League games played so far this season after earlier defeating Shakhtar Donetsk 3-0 away from home in the first game and Dinamo Zagreb 2-0 at the Etihad stadium.

Man City are priced at 1.11 to defeat Aston Villa, while Villa are backed at 27.34 to claim a shock win over City.
