The Scot confirmed last week that he had chosen to go under the knife in an attempt to correct a long-standing problem once and for all. Despite the success of the operation, the world number three is expected to be out of action for the rest of the year, meaning he will miss the end-of-season ATP World Tour finals at London’s 02. Murray is hoping the surgery will see him come back stronger, with the injury proving problematic for much of the season. It had caused him problems at the Rome Masters in May and returned once again to force him out of the French Open. His team did work hard to stay on top of the situation since and of course it famously paid off as he won his first Wimbledon title in July, ending Britain’s 77-year wait for a men’s singles winner at SW19, beating Novak Djokovic in straight sets in the final.
