Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson says his side are taking each game as it comes rather than thinking about landing the Premier League title.

The Reds claimed a 1-0 win at Brighton on Saturday to move seven points clear of defending champions Manchester City in second spot ahead of their home game against Wolves on Monday.

Henderson insists Liverpool will not get distracted by any title talk and says their full focus is already on their next assignment – a home game against Crystal Palace next Saturday.

He told the club website: “The next game is the biggest game of the season, that’s how we look at it, and it’s a tough one again next week. We will keep taking it game by game and come the end of the season, let’s see where we are.”

The win over the Seagulls ended a two-game losing run for Jurgen Klopp’s men after they were beaten by City in the league and then exited the FA Cup at the hands of Wolves.

Henderson says they have moved on from those losses and is targeting another winning run as Liverpool look to hold on to top spot. “We have spoken enough about the last two games,” he added.

“All of our focus was on this game and you can only have the opportunity to get the three points in your next game; that’s what we had here and that’s what all the concentration was on.

“We are still very confident as a group and very together, as you can see. That plays a big part in confidence going forward and you could see we didn’t lose our confidence. We kept our nerve, were patient and got the job done.”

Liverpool are 1.67 to win the Premier League outright and City are 2.25.
